SUSTAINABLE SIGNAGE SOLUTIONS DELIVERED TO GRADWELL PARK

gradwell park bamboo sustainable external signage wayfinding signbox

Signbox recently completed a project at the exclusive new retirement community of Gradwell Park, which is located on the edge of the South Downs National Park near Lewis. The project involved the manufacture and installation of all the external wayfinding and estate signage at Gradwell Park.

Signbox was commissioned by RV Services to produce all the external signage and everything was manufactured in-house by Signbox’s expert signmakers at our base in Egham, Surrey. The Signbox team ensured that every sign solution met the required aesthetic design and functionality. We produced a wide range of wooden signage and wooden wayfinding and demonstrated  our knowledge and expertise with materials by specifying the use of Bamboo as one of the materials for manufacturing the signs as it is highly sustainable. The client was pleased to be using Bamboo signage as it is such a sustainably conscious material.

Due to the unsurpassed growing speed and negative footprint of Bamboo it was the perfect choice as well as it being Breeam certified. Not only is this wood extremely sustainable but it’s highly durable and weather resistant. The bamboo has an amazing aesthetic quality as well as delivering the strength and performance of any other hardwood. The natural beauty of the surrounding area was a huge factor when designing the wayfinding scheme and selecting the materials to use, not only to ensure the signage was highly sustainable but also aesthetically pleasing, sympathetic and complimentary to its breath-taking backdrop.

The Signbox Hybrid premium modular outdoor sign system which we used and was engineered in our factory using high quality signage components that are tailored from the ground up, to support the single post and fin bamboo signage structure as well as the branding panel. The bamboo was then CNC cut to produce the engraved surface.

This sign system combines the relentlessly durable weather resistant and sustainable qualities of exterior grade bamboo, with powerful materials to bring the sign scheme to life. The result was a beautiful, ecologically sensitive, highly sustainable signage solution that is perfect for its woodland setting, blending with the natural environment effortlessly.

A selection of monolith / totem designs were chosen for the external wayfinding alongside some incredible 3D fabricated lettering, which made up the main branding signage for the site.

It was a pleasure to manufacture and install a sustainable external signage scheme that delivered a powerful visual impact and also enhanced the beautiful natural environment of Gradwell Park.
