Signbox is in the running for the BSGA 2017 British Sign Awards in three categories

Signbox have been shortlisted for The BSGA 2017 British Sign Awards, one of the most prestigious awards in the signage industry, for three categories: Architectural Sign of the Year, The Decor Award and Illuminated Sign of the Year. The winners will be revealed at the Awards Event in Leicester on Thursday, November 9th. We are hoping to add at least one trophy to our collection and fingers crossed for a hat-trick!

New Scotland Yard – an iconic sign that pushes the boundaries of innovation
The architectural signage solutions for the New Scotland Yard project, manufactured and installed by Signbox, have been shortlisted for two categories this year – Architectural Sign of the Year and Illuminated Sign of the Year. As the Metropolitan Police relocated to Victoria Embankment, we recreated the iconic sign that had been seen steadily rotating since 1968 with a brand-new sign manufactured in-house, including bespoke LED illuminated stainless steel lettering for the new building’s pavilion roof. We believe that both signs look stunning and with great chances to win.
The iconic New Scotland Yard sign is by far one of the most well-known signs we have produced, being viewed by billions of people who watch the news streamed in front of it. It was a challenge to recreate such a visible brand, designed to meticulous detail. “We were tasked with creating a sign that could be illuminated at night, so simply copying the original design was not an option. To power the revolving illuminated faces, we used a slip ring mechanism, similar to those used in wind turbines” explained Signbox Senior Project Manager, Andy Harris.

Prominent Architectural Signage Solutions for Dakota
Dakota is another landmark workplace that we are proud to have produced signs for and the sign solutions we manufactured are shortlisted for the Architectural Sign of the Year. We delivered several architectural signs that reflect the building’s modern and contemporary feel inside and out. Our team of professionals worked alongside architects TateHindle to ensure appropriate form and function for this prominent site.
“The architects had very detailed designs and it was our job to interpret those to deliver a functional and effective finished product,” says Signbox Director, Matthew Wilkins. The design, production and installations teams worked together to manufacture and fit a skyline sign for the top of the entrance portico and to each elevation. A fabricated perimeter sign and car park entrance monolith at street level and a backlit, painted glass reception directory with a polished aluminium frame inside the entrance lobby. All the exterior signs are sustainable and energy efficient, specified with powder coated stainless steel and LED illumination, controlled by solar switch.

Elegance and quality inside the new Alpha Bank London office
Signbox manufactures an extensive range of workplace signs – and when quality bespoke signage was required for Alpha Bank’s new London office, Resonate Architects turned to Signbox for digitally printed manifestations, large format feature graphics and meeting room signage. This project has been shortlisted for The Decor Award.
The design concept had to represent the business’ identity, ethos, and Greek heritage, and a particular tone of bronze was the cornerstone. With the right technologies, we were able to match a colour that worked across all media and produced a striking feature wall, glazing manifestations and meeting room signs that reinforce the bank’s brand. “We are delighted to have delivered on all of the challenging elements of this project to the client’s satisfaction, keeping on brand, communicating the client’s heritage and identity and maintaining an ultra-high standard of quality throughout. Alpha Bank now has a new City of London office to make the best possible impression on visitors and to provide an excellent working environment for its staff. We are also pleased to have had the opportunity to successfully work with Resonate on yet another project.” comments Signbox Managing Director Mark Bartlett.
